COMMENT

Sometimes you meet someone who is so utterly dedicated to their chosen path in life that it makes you feel humble to know them. Brenda Muntemba is such a woman.
We interviewed her for this month’s profile and were impressed to see that there is a lot more to her than simply being the mouth-piece of the police service.
There’s a professionalism there that is an example to us all; but there’s also a softer side, proving she’s found that difficult balance between work and personal life.
Brenda’s seen some pretty terrible sides of human nature in her time. And everyone has their own personal tragedies.
How we deal with them makes us stronger people, and hopefully gives support to those around us.
Some of Brenda’s experiences are also familiar to those in the nursing profession, and we take a closer look at their work in this issue as well.
If you thought nurses just wore funny hats and took tempratures, then think again!
On the subject of medical matters, it’s that time of year when colds are flying around. Take a look at our health column for some advice on how to avoid them, and how to relieve the symptoms if you’re unlucky enough to catch one.
As always, Dr Petra gives us the benefit of her wisom on your relationship problems, and our fashion pages showcase some wonderful pochos that are ideal as the weather gets a little chillier.
Another exciting development is the Beauty Zambia writing competition.
We know there are plenty of budding writers out there, so put pen to paper and tell us what it means to be a women in today’s society. The winning entry will receive a K200,000 prize and see their work published in the magazine. And remember: it just takes dedication.

Good Luck!
