COMMENT

It’s all about teamwork! Or as the old sayings go – two heads are better than one; there’s strength in numbers…
No matter how you look at it, having a strong partnership helps in life. Singer Ty2 has recognised this in his marriage – congratulations to him and his new wife Larria; they certainly look happy together. Check out the pictures of his wedding bash in this month’s issue.
Indeed family is the bedrock of everything, as Patricia Mukwenga discovered when she spent a lifetime tracking down her father – an amazing, heart-warming story on page 12.
And just to reinforce the message, the penultimate chapter in our serialisation, A New Dawn, shows just what can happen and how much heartache there can be when things go wrong.
Evelyn Hone College fashion designers also pulled out all the stops, joining forces to put on their own fashion show to display their creativity, talent and sense of style - a truly inspirational show.
Meanwhile, ask anyone on the street – we did – what their greatest achievements have been in life. The chances are they couldn’t have made it without someone’s help.
Teamwork is also an important part of the Coca-Cola Light Zambia Fashion Week, coming up fast on October 2 – 7 and organised by Beauty Zambia.
We’re busy building our team of talented designers and professional models to put on a week of shows to remember. But it’s not all about the glamour on stage, and the crew behind the scenes is vital – make-up, hair, lighting, sound – if even one component is missing the rest falls apart, so we know we’ve got to put together a fantastic team and give you the best set of fashion shows you have ever seen. Watch this space....
It just does to prove that the whole is bigger than the sum of the parts.

All the Best,
Gillian Baker

The highlight of this month’s television viewing on DStv has to be the Nokia Face of Africa finale on M-Net. Whatever you do don’t miss the show, to see how our very own Mulenga Mubanga does in the glamorous contest.

THE HAPPY COUPLE
It was smiles all round as musician Ty2 - real name Mbangweta Mwendaweli - married his sweetheart Larria Ndafoka in a ceremony in Lusaka.

Honing their talents
Evelyn Hone College design students and more-established designers converged on the Lusaka college recently for a fashion show of note. Our photographer Simon Phiri went along as well.

Hi Beauty mag!
I am right now reading your June edition and there is a whole lot of interesting stuff for only K5,000. Oops! What more do I want? Please keep it up and good luck because you can do even better than this.

Hi,
I read one of your Beauty magazines and it’s cool.
Please keep it up and include a penpal page…

MEN

Dear Beauty Zambia,
Thank you so much for producing this magazine. It is the only one that keeps going every month, when others fall by the wayside.
I always look out for it in the shops every month – it’s so bright and cheerful. It really makes my month!
There are a lot of articles and pictures about fashionable and beautiful women – it really shows how dynamic the women of Zambia are. Just one thing worries me: a lot of the men featured in your magazine seem to be only interested in being ‘cool’ pop stars and rappers, pretending to be American, when they should be proud to be just Zambian. These men are just dragging down the tone of the place all the time.
Best wishes
CL, Kabwe
