Cut-price South African retailer Mr Price has reported encouraging results from the opening in October of a clothes store in Zambia, which is its first franchise.
The fashion shop in the Manda Hill mall, Lusaka, had a successful opening and was trading well, reported the company.
“This is our first test of franchising and the initial results are encouraging. We will be testing a further franchise store in Maputo in March early in the new year,” said Alastair McArthur, chief executive of the Mr Price Group, which has 305 of its Everyday clothing stores in South Africa using a marketing strategy of low-cost to sell its casual wear.
