01/06/2006 The Zambia Institute of Marketings esteemed president Mabel Luo Mungomba has urged us all to move ZIM to a different level. And judging by the attendance and enthusiasm of the annual general meeting in May, I think members are already taking her message on board. It is not only a question of moving ZIM to a different level, however. In fact it is the whole marketing industry in Zambia that is moving to new heights. This issue of The Zambia Marketer clearly illustrates the progress we have made in recent months in terms of building a strong, dynamic industry of which we can all be proud. The recent Customer Service and Relationship Management Workshop demonstrates the depth of knowledge and understanding that members are now operating at. We have summarised many of those valuable presentations in this issue for those that missed the event, and hopefully they will stimulate learning, discussion and debate. Of course ZIM is not all work, as can be seen from the institute news pages, where the social side of the institute is brought out. We also welcome new members and show some of the worthy people who received practising certificates. Our industry news section helps you keep up-to-date with happenings on the ground, while there are more practical lessons to be gleaned from our profiles of Kings Group, and of Stanbic Bank marketing manager Irene Musonda. We also extend our thanks to all those newly-elected council members who have volunteered to give some of their precious time and wisdom for the benefit of the institute. Best Wishes, James Chiwala Date: q206
