Faith is based in Lusaka and works under her Fay Designs label. She is married with two children and used to work for Zamtel before resigning to concentrate on her fashion designing.

She got into designing because she used to make my own clothes out of old rags, and people appreciated them, so she decided to go into full-time fashion and designing. She has never gone to a school for fashion and designing, instead building up her knowledge with the help of distance learning.

She has showcased at Zambia Fashion Week for the past three years and has done fashion shows with colleges and universities. She also had an opportunity to represent Zambia in Algeria at a pan-African exhibition this year.

She describes her designs as Afro-centric and is inspired by the things around her such as nature and people. Her latest collection is inspired by the theme of “Dress to be noticed”.

She likes to work with material including drill, canvas and satin.

Faith’s ambition is to exhibit at Cape Town or Paris Fashion Week, and she says she really appreciates being recognised as one of Zambia’s fashion designers.
