KANSANSHI DYNAMOS CELEBRATE STRONG SUPER LEAGUE FINISH

SOLWEZI, ZAMBIA – Completing the just ended 2021/22 season in 7th place on the MTN/FAZ Super Division table, freshly promoted side Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club marked a brilliant conclusion to the otherwise challenging football season with an end-of-season award ceremony.

Gracing the event, which was held on Saturday (May 15, 2022), were immediate past and present club presidents Mark Silimi and Aston Chibanda; guest of honour and Kansanshi Sports Foundation manager Ryan Ellis; and a slew of Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) provincial representatives including North-Western vice chairperson Kenneth Muselu and North-Western women’s representative Josephine Chaile.

Kansanshi Dynamos FC Club general secretary Francis Malama praised the hard work of all the team members.
He said the club’s unwavering commitment had made it a force to be reckoned with, and that it would start producing a pool of quality players to represent the province at national level in the very near future.

Mr Malama also emphasised that finishing 7th, for a team that struggled to move out of the bottom half of the table for most of the season, was a feat too great to go unacknowledged. This sentiment was reiterated by both club president and guest of honour in their respective speeches.

And immediate club past president Mark Silimi congratulated the players and technical bench for continuing to distinguish themselves in the sport through their passion, respect for one another and financial integrity.

“We are here to celebrate Kansanshi Dynamos, a club that remains committed to benefitting its players and the wider community. While I step aside from club leadership to support you from the terraces, I encourage you to continue to support each other and your new leaders. Work with humility and continue to uphold the integrity that this club has become known for,” he said.

Mr Ellis commended the team and club management for their hard work and for ensuring that the club maintained its stay in the MTN/FAZ Super Division.

“In sport, there is no ceiling; there is no limit to what you can do. And there is always another team that is always going to come out to try and work harder, and I hope that this team will be the hardest working team as we go into next year. And I really feel fantastic about the future of this team,” he continued.

The presentation of awards brought a lively conclusion to the evening’s festivity. Achievement medals were first handed out to each player and member of the technical bench in recognition of the team effort. Thereafter, individual awards were given to commend the players’ consistency, discipline, dependability and improvement.

The league’s joint all-time top scorer Jackson Jessy Were was presented with the Top Scorer Award and Bruce Musakanya walked away with both the Patron’s Award and the Player of the Season Award for approaching each game with consistent tenacity despite the team’s mid-season crisis. The Supporters’ Player of the Season Award went to Shadreck Banda, while Titus Chivunga was awarded Young Player of the Season.

President Aston Chibanda presented two final awards to Head Coach Boyd Mulwanda and Former Club President Silimi to honour their contributions to the past, present and future successes of the “Fearless” Kansanshi Dynamos.
