Kagem Renews ISO Certification in Health & Safety, Environment, Quality Management and Achieves New Certification in Information Security Management
NDOLA, 03 NOVEMBER 2025 – Last week, Kagem Mining Limited (Kagem) successfully renewed its International Organisation for Standardisation certification in ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System), and ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) after completing the standard audits required for renewal every three-year cycle. The International Organisation for Standardisation is a non-governmental group that develops and publishes quality standards for the production of goods that are sold internationally, providing common standards of safety, reliability, and quality.
Speaking at the ceremony during the 9th National Conference on Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), in Ndola, the Chairman of the Board at Kagem, Dr Sixtus Mulenga, said: “This recertification reflects our pursuit for excellence in vital areas of operations, and the responsible ethos of our workforce. Not only does Kagem subscribe to international standards and systems of excellence, but we also work closely with local authorities and governing bodies to ensure compliance with the safety standards in Zambia’s mining sector.”
Kagem has also received a new certification for ISO 27001:2022 in Information Security Management System, a demonstration of its commitment to information security.
The Head of Health Safety, Environment and Quality at Kagem, Benedict Bukoka, said: “Today, we celebrate the recertification of these standards, underpinning our unwavering focus in this regard. ISO 9001 reminds us that quality is not a one-time achievement but a continual improvement pursuit. ISO 14001 reinforces our responsibility to protect the environment and operate responsibly. ISO 45001 reaffirms our value and commitment to safeguard the health and safety of every individual who walks through our mine site and areas of our operations. And we are pleased to announce today the achievement of a new ISO certification in ISO 27001, which demonstrates our commitment to cyber security.”
He concluded: “These standards inform crucial safety and governance aspects of our operations and speak to who we are as a mine that is not just about being compliant but places the health, safety, and well-being of our workforce at the top of our agenda.”
