Zambian Breweries Clarifies Position on Ethanol Allegations
Lusaka, Zambia – Zambian Breweries Plc has noted a recent statement by the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) regarding the interception of two trucks carrying ethanol.
We wish to state unequivocally that Zambian Breweries does not use ethanol in our brewing process. Our beers are brewed from natural ingredients such as malted barley, sorghum, cassava, maize, hops, and water, in line with strict quality and safety standards.
We are working conjointly with ZRA to establish the full facts surrounding this matter, including how our company’s details have been linked to the shipments in question.
Our company adheres strictly to all applicable laws, including the Customs and Excise Act, and maintains rigorous compliance and audit procedures for all imports, exports, and local transactions. Zambian Breweries is a responsible taxpayer and one of the largest contributors to government revenue in Zambia, and we take our legal and ethical obligations extremely seriously.
We remain committed to full transparency and are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities to ensure that the truth is established and that our reputation, built over decades of ethical business practice in Zambia, is protected.
Zambian Breweries continues to operate in compliance with all legal requirements, and we reassure our stakeholders, customers, and partners that our operations remain unaffected by this matter.
